This includes:

  • Expanding food variety safely and gradually

  • Supporting children with ADHD and nutrition needs that affect focus, mood, and regulation

  • Helping children build a positive, confident relationship with food

This integrative approach recognizes the strong connection between emotional health, nervous system regulation, and nutrition.

What do Parent Insight Sessions look like?

Virtual parent coaching sessions are 60 minutes or 90 minutes. Sessions can take place on a secure video platform or in-person at our offices in DC and Takoma Park, MD, or the comfort of your own home or office.

90 minute sessions are best as stand-alone appointments.

During sessions, we work together to understand your child’s temperament, emotional needs, developmental stage, and the challenges they may be experiencing—or the questions you have. We explore the “why” behind behaviors and develop practical, individualized strategies to support and understand your child more effectively. The goal is for parents to gain clarity about their child and receive actionable steps to help their child thrive.

Parent sessions typically includes:

  • Understanding your child’s emotional and developmental profile

  • Learning how to respond to anxiety, frustration, or emotional outbursts, as well as negative self-talk, limiting thoughts and beliefs, low mood or emotional withdrawal, and perfectionistic tendencies

  • Building skills that strengthen emotional regulation and resilience

  • Supporting confidence, independence, and flexibility

  • Improving daily routines, transitions, and family dynamics

  • Guidance on supporting your child’s nutrition and eating behaviors, ensuring that nutrition is optimized to support stable energy and mood, and fine tuned for special needs, necessary diets, selective eating, and difficult mealtimes

Most families benefit from an initial series of 3–6 60-minute sessions, which provides time to understand patterns, implement strategies, and observe meaningful changes. Some families then schedule occasional “touch up” sessions as children grow, enter new developmental stages, or face new challenges. 90 minute sessions can be a great starting place for a comprehensive session, or as a stand-alone session.

Virtual sessions also allow parents to ask questions in real time and receive support that can be immediately applied in everyday situations.

Sessions are considered out-of-network and are $225 per session. Superbills can be provided.

The details you need

  • Send an email to contact@heartstrongcounseling.com or call or text 301-531-5724.

  • You can choose a 60-minute session that is $225, or a 90-minute session that is $300.

  • Parent Insight Sessions are targeted, specific, and actionable for parents to use the very same day. 60 minute sessions are best for families who are interested in several sessions to work through how to best support and attend to family or child concerns. Parents usually schedule between 3-6 sessions. Because child are not directly involved, we can be a little more flexible about scheduling. 60 minute sessions can be stand-alone sessions if parents have specific questions or want to troubleshoot specific concerns.

90 minute sessions are best for families who have more complexity and are searching for more involved assessment and guidance, and these sessions work well as stand-alone sessions.

All sessions with Heartstrong Counseling are rooted in establishing a thorough understanding of each individual family, using compassionate and neurodiversity and gender affirming care and connection. We rely on evidence-based approaches and researched informed understandings that allow us to help each child, and family, thrive in genuine, meaningful, and sustainable ways. We are not a one size-fits-all shop. Expect thoughtful conversation, expanding mindsets, and care for each family’s individual ideology, goals, and desires.

These sessions can be followed up with additional sessions but the goal is to help families find clarity and/or solutions in a single session.
